Our mission
Building a welcoming geek community
Geek Bank's primary mission is to build a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for adults passionate about geek culture to connect, make genuine friendships, and find community.
The Meetup.com group was founded in January 2022, by a couple who experienced first-hand how difficult it was to find like-minded social circles after moving to the East Midlands, the group focuses on bringing people together, particularly neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ individuals, through shared interests like gaming, films, outdoor adventures, and social events.

Geek Bank proudly works with local businesses, independent venues, and cultural hubs throughout Derby and beyond. Through collaborative spaces, such as special events hosted with QUAD. These establishments help bring the community together for film screenings, meetups, and geek-culture celebrations.
Our Core Values
To ensure a safe, relaxed environment tailored to adults, all our events and online spaces are strictly for individuals 18 years of age and older.
Be Yourself & Feel Welcome: We celebrate individuality. Whatever your passions, background, or quirks, this is a judgment-free space where you can show up as your authentic self and feel immediately welcomed.
Inclusivity & Belonging: We welcome people of all backgrounds with open arms. We strive to be an explicitly safe and supportive space for everyone, especially for neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ members to feel comfortable, accepted, and celebrated.
Respect & Kindness: Diversity of thought and background is what makes our group great. We expect all members to treat one another with warmth, empathy, and open-mindedness.
Collaboration & Connection: Whether sharing a passion, playing a game, or working on a project together, we focus on lifting each other up, building friendships, and sharing knowledge generously.
